Celebrating his 80th birthday at Birdland! Singer-songwriter-guitarist Joao Bosco is one of the most popular iconic musical figures in música popular Brasileira since the 1970s when he began writing songs with lyricist Aldir Blanc that were performed, recorded, and popularized by Elis Regina and other Brazilian pop stars including collaborations with Joao Gilberto, Caetano Veloso, and the great Antonio Carlos Jobim.
A recipient of the Latin Grammy® Award for Lifetime Achievement, Joao Bosco has become known for his distinctive guitar playing and eclectic musical style blending Samba and Bossa Nova, Jazz and African rhythms, and elements from his Lebanese heritage and other global influences.
With João Bosco (guitar/vocals), Ricardo Silveira (guitar), Kiko Freitas (drums), Guto Wirtti (bass), Special Guest Anat Cohen (clarinet, *except 5/1).
