Daryl Sherman, a savvy New York singer and pianist is a main disciple of Mildred Bailey with 2 recordings  "Celebrating Mildred Bailey and Red Norvo" and later "Born To Swing" both on Audiophile. Noted critic Gary Giddins wrote "No one has done more than Daryl Sherman to keep disarmingly light, ardently swinging sound sound of Mildred Bailey alive."

Mildred Bailey plays an important role in jazz history as the first female singer to front a band (the Paul Whiteman Orchestra)and then with husband Red Norvo, who pioneered playing jazz on the vibraphone.

Mildred's high pitched girlish sound and remarkable musicianship can be heard on a treasure chest of 30s & 40s    recordings that still hold up today. Her childhood was spent in Tekoa WA - part of Coeur D' Alene Indian tribal land. nurturing Mildred's deep spirituality to infuse her unforgettable voice and personality. Her classics like Georgia On My Mind, All Of Me, Thanks For The Memory influenced  Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Rosie Clooney and Sinatra, who all sung her praises.
