Description

CRAIG DAVIS, with Trio, is on a mission to raise Michael “Dodo” Mamarosa’s profile in the Jazz consciousness. Davis pays tribute to this Jazz Piano master who  worked in bands led by major swing-era bandleaders like Tommy Dorsey, Gene Krupa, and Artie Shaw and recorded with Charlie Parker. He also worked with greats like Lester Young.

Davis recognizes parallels to his own approach to the piano in that of Mamarosa’s.
Both blend classical influences with a taste for progressive Jazz and a spirited
lyricism of the 40’s .  He has a new CD, “Tone Paintings” with John Clayton and Jeff Hamilton, released by Manchester Craftmen’s Guild in Pittsburgh, the same city of which both Davis  and Mamarosa are natives and where Davis  is an active, in-demand member of the Pittsburgh Jazz scene. The CD is produced by well-known Concert and Record Producer, Marty Ashby.

Ian Ashby - Bass
