Fourteen-time MAC Award, two-time Backstage Bistro Award, and Nightlife Award Winner Natalie Douglas returns to the Birdland spotlight with her fifth annual Juneteenth concert, “A Juneteenth Jubilee - Tributes: ‘70s Soul, Volume 2”. This one-night-only event will take place on Monday, June 15 at 7pm.

Natalie is thrilled to celebrate this national holiday with music director, Brian Nash (Audra McDonald, Jennifer Holliday, John Cameron Mitchell), and band as they revisit and expand upon her recent smash hit concert exploring the soul music of this singular decade. One of the great indigenous American art forms, soul music blends traditions from jazz, gospel, rock, and R & B to create a unique expression of emotion from a particularly Black American perspective.

Through this lens, Natalie and musicians, will travel the decade from bell bottoms to “Dyn O-Mite!” to sky-high Afros to hot pants to disco and Watergate - these symbols of the “Me” generation heralded great musical, cultural and social transformation, including iconic tunes by artists such as Roberta Flack, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Fifth Dimension, The Commodores, and of course, a few unforgettable “one-hit wonders.”

In his second five-star review bestowed upon one of Natalie’s London appearances at The Crazy Coqs, Clive Davis of The Times (UK), said, “(Natalie Douglas) For pure energy, playfulness and heart-on-sleeve emotion, she is in a league of her own. Her latest show…turns out to be even more exhilarating.” Natalie Douglas has performed throughout the U.S. and internationally as well as having produced 85 concerts at her NYC musical home, Birdland Jazz Club.
