Description
The Bouncin’ With Bud Trio will perform the music of Bud Powell September 29 through October 1 celebrating Bud Powell’s September 27 birthday. Drummer Steve Smith will join pianist Manuel Valera and bassist Lonnie Plaxico on stage at Birdland for the weekend.This years Bud Powell Birthday Celebration will feature Bud's compositions from various albums.- Buster Rides Again, Dry Soul, John's Abbey from the Blue Note Time Waits album. And for the first time Solo Piano renditions from Bud's albums for Norman Granz in early 5O's which made Bud famous including his legendary solo rendition of Cole Porter's Just One Of Those Things. The Trio will finish each set the way Bud finished his sets at Birdland, with Lullaby of Birdland.
