Description
Misterioso Quintet will continue their exploration of Monk's compositions which started last year with 'In Walked Bud' named for Monk's friend Bud Powell. You will also hear 'Trinkle Tinkle,' 'Let's Cool One,' 'Ruby My Dear' - named after his first love.In addition there is 'Monk's Mood,' 'Thelonious,' 'Little Rootie Tutti' for his son and Monk's cover of Gershwin's 'I Got Rhythm' as well as the audience favorite 'Rhythm-a-ning' which features Steve Smith's drum mastery.
The Misterioso Quintet will feature Greg Osby on alto sax, Jon Irabagon on tenor sax, Ben Allison on bass, Helen Sung (13), Uri Caine (14), or Aaron Goldberg (15) on piano and Steve Smith on drums. This unique line-up will perform singular arrangements – and interpretations – of some of Monk's best loved compositions.
