The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to announce that singer Natalie Douglas will return to the historic music room with more “Tributes!” On Monday, August 20 at 7:30pm, she will celebrate the music and magic of the one and only Ella Fitzgerald. Musical director for the evening will be Billy Stritch.
Natalie Douglas, musical director Billy Stritch and the band of all-stars will celebrate the artistry, brilliance & singular achievements of the sublime & beloved “First Lady of Song” Ella Fitzgerald. On the occasion of Ms. Douglas’ SRO Ella tribute debut, Brian Lipton of Theater Pizzaz described it as, “...an evening of musical bliss” and prophetically wrote, “As for me, I’m living for the hope she’ll do this spectacular show again.” And so she will!
Natalie Douglas - the acclaimed vocalist hailed as “a true, true star” by BBC London Radio, “a true force of nature” by The Times (UK), “sensational” by Time Out New York, “a monstrous talent” by Next Magazine and “simply everything” by The Daily News, - has returned to her home perch at Birdland with a new monthly residency as part of Jim Caruso’s Broadway at Birdland Series.
Natalie Douglas is a two-time Bistro, Nightlife and eight-time MAC Award Winner and has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Rose Theatre and The Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Town Hall among others and has produced over 50 different concerts at her musical home, Birdland Jazz Club.
