Birdland Theater is proud to present “A Little Old, A Little New” on the stage Friday and Saturday, November 16 and 17 with shows at 7pm.

This very special event will be an evening of Tap Dance & Live Music, featuring a wide variety of music ranging from the sophistication of Jazz music in the 1930’s to the present-day influences of funk and hip hop. “A Little Old, A Little New” features three cutting-edge tap dancers Luke Hickey, John Manzari, and Andre Imanishi, and is accompanied by the sensational David Whitfield and his trio, The Maniacs. This percussive dance review is choreographed and directed by Luke Hickey.

Luke Hickey is a tap dancer, choreographer, filmmaker and actor from Chapel Hill, NC; currently residing in New York City. Under the direction of his mentor Gene Medler, Hickey completed 10 consecutive seasons performing and touring with the internationally acclaimed, North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble (NCYTE). In 2017, Hickey was featured in Dance Spirit Magazine to breakdown the legendary BS Chorus. Hickey's choreography is seen in the new Independent feature film "A Bread Factory.” He is also on faculty at Groove National Dance Competition. Onstage, Luke has most notably performed at the American Dance Festival with Elizabeth Burke, Karole Armitage’s "American Dream" at the iconic Ravello Festival, and the American Tap Dance Foundation's "Tap Ellington" at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Appel Room.
