Broadway at Birdland is proud to announce that Howard McGillin will perform “Never Been Younger,” a new concert, on Monday, April 22 at 7pm. Mr. McGillin will be joined by musical director Joseph Thalken.
This concert will be a trip to the musical fountain of youth with Broadway’s King of the Long Runs. Howard McGillin will immerse the audience in the healing waters of the American songbook accompanied by his long-time music director Joseph Thalken. You’ll leave feeling refreshed by his dazzling versions of your Broadway favorites. Bring a senior citizen!
Best known for his record-setting performance in the title role of “The Phantom of the Opera” on Broadway, Howard has appeared extensively in leading roles on Broadway and London’s West End. In addition to his signature role behind the mask, Howard has starred on Broadway in “Gigi”, “The Kiss Of The Spider Woman”, “She Loves Me”, “The Secret Garden”, “Anything Goes” (nominated for Tony and Drama Desk Awards), “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” (Tony and Drama Desk nominations, and received the Theatre World Award), and “Sunday in the Park with George”. On London’s West End, Howard starred in acclaimed revivals of “Mack and Ma- bel” and “Anything Goes”. He was nominated for a Drama Desk award for his New York theatri- cal debut in the New York Shakespeare Festival's production of “La Bohème” opposite Linda Ronstadt. He starred in the Stephen Sondheim/John Weidman musical “Bounce” directed by Harold Prince at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago and The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., where he was nominated for a Helen Hayes Award. Howard recently appeared in “Pamela’s First Musical” at Two River Theatre, and has been seen regionally in “Grey Gardens” with Betty Buckley, “My Fair Lady”, “Damn Yankees”, “The 39 Steps”, and “It Shoulda Been You”.
Howard appeared recently in New York opposite Charles Busch in the world premiere of his play, “The Confession of Lily Dare”, and at the Irish Rep in “It’s A Wonderful Life”. He has sung on concert stages around the world from Carnegie Hall to the Israel Philharmonic Hall in Tel Aviv to Tokyo, and has performed in New York’s famed Cafe Carlyle, 54 Below, Feinstein’s at the Regency, and the Algonquin Hotel’s Oak Room. Television appearances include “The Good Wife” and “Elementary”, in addition to narrating numerous episodes of “Nature” for PBS, and numerous audio books. Howard appears in the legendary all-star Stephen Sondheim’s “Follies: In Concert” available on DVD. He has starred in animated feature films such as “South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut” and “The Swan Princess”.
