Birdland Theater is proud to present Carmen Ruby Floyd in Well Hello, Carmen! on the stage Friday, November 16 at 9:30pm.

Drawing from her extensive resume of Tony Award-winning musicals such as After Midnight, The Gershwin’s Porgy & Bess, and now, Hello, Dolly!, Ms. Floyd’s show will include her love of jazz, soul, R&B, classical and contemporary theatre. Well Hello, Carmen! will cover Ms. Floyd's theatrical journey starting as a young girl from Buffalo in the Toronto company of Disney’s The Lion King, through her off-Broadway and television appearances, and ultimately to the bright lights of Broadway!

Carmen Ruby Floyd was last seen on Broadway in the Tony award winning musical Hello, Dolly!, starring Bette Midler, Bernadette Peters and Donny Murphy, all of whom she understudied in the title role. This Broadway vet also performed in Tony Award winning musicals: Disney's The Lion King as Shenzi, Avenue Q as Gary Coleman and The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess with Audra McDonald and Norm Lewis. In her fourth show, After Midnight, the Associated Press said “... her eyes and heavenly voice will make you melt.” In her fifth Broadway show, Ms. Floyd stepped into the iconic role of Matron "Mama" Morton in the long-running musical Chicago. She has performed several times, both on Broadway and in private performances, for President and Mrs. Obama and the Clintons. She now has the pleasure of touring the world with Vanessa Williams. Along with her stage work, Ms. Floyd has guest starred in several TV shows, seen in numerous commercials, and has been heard in a slew of voice overs. Married to fellow Broadway and Film Actor, J. Bernard Calloway, they enjoy raising their voices for various charities as well as traveling the globe. The couple's greatest joy and most perfect creation is their 2-year old son Jacob Adam.
