Birdland Theater is proud to announce that Broadway actresses Anne Runolfsson and Robin Skye will peform “Magnificent Chaos” on Monday, April 8 at 8:30pm.
“Magnificent Chaos” celebrates the 30-year friendship between Anne Runolfsson and Robin Skye. They first met in rehearsal for Les Miserables at The Shubert in LA, and found a friendship that has celebrated and mourned all that life has thrown their way. From Broadway shows to personal tragedies, they’ve survived them together. Throughout life events, love, humor, compassion, and music have anchored their friendship. Under the musical direction of Natalie Tenenbaum, “Magnificent Chaos” employs a 6 piece band and back-up singers. With songs by Peter Gabriel, Annie Lennox, Foreigner, Jason Mraz, Bryan Adams, Kate Bush, Imagine Dragons, Carrie Underwood and others, “Magnificent Chaos” dives deep into the darkness and the light in the messy thing called life.
Anne Runolfsson has been entertaining audiences for over 30 years. The New York Times proclaimed, “Ms. Runolfsson has a flexible virtuosity, between ethereal melodiousness and piercing big-moment resonance.” Personal highlights in her lengthy career include Carlotta Giudacelli in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, an appearance in London’s 02 Arena where she was honored to sing with the great Dame Julie Andrews, accompanying tenor Jose Carreras at Radio City Music Hall, collaborating with the New York Pops and Marvin Hamlisch at Carnegie Hall, soloing at The Hollywood Bowl, standing by for Dame Julie and Liza Minnelli in Victor/Victoria (she performed the title role over 120 times to great acclaim), a long run as Fantine in Les Miserables in Chicago’s Auditorium Theater, the role of Roxane in Cyrano the Musical on Broadway, touring the US as Lili in The Secret Garden, working with Andrew Lloyd Webber in Aspects of Love on Broadway, recording the International Cast Album of Les Miserables, and the release of her debut record, “At Sea.” Her greatest joy has been her appearances with her daughter, actress Tess Adams, on Broadway and summer stock, with symphony orchestras, in cabaret spaces and on cruises. Recently Anne and Tess launched their newest collaboration, “Heroine’s Song: Creators, Shapers, Dreamers” on the island of Kauai.
