Amanda Brecker
Amanda Brecker is a Brazilian/American singer-songwriter from New York City. She has recorded four albums to date, with each release reaching the top of the jazz charts in Japan. She was the #1 Best Selling Jazz Vocal artist (in 2008 and 2009), and won 2 Gold Disc Awards along with the Best New Talent Award, New Star International Prize by ADLIB and the New Star International Award by Swing Journal (all in Japan).

Amanda Brecker released her fourth album entitled “Way to Be” exclusively for Japan, which is now available worldwide on iTunes, CDBaby and Spotify. The album is a blend of Brazilian/American contemporary pop music infused with percussive rhythms from different regions of Brazil. It was recorded in Los Angeles and produced by GRAMMY Award winners Jesse Harris (Norah Jones, Tiago Iorc, Melody Gardot) and Mario Caldato (Bebel Gilberto, Beastie Boys, Vanessa Da Mata, Marisa Monte, Jack Johnson, Planet Hemp). “Way to Be” includes six original compositions by Amanda Brecker and features the duet, ‘Ciranda’, sung with Brazilian superstar and Latin GRAMMY Award winner, Tiago Iorc. Amanda's original composition ‘Papo Furado’, features the young percussion group Projeto Quabales from Bahia, Brazil. Music videos for ‘Ciranda’ and ‘Papo Furado’ can be found on YouTube.

Prior to “Way to Be”, Amanda released a tribute album to James Taylor and Carole King entitled “Blossom” (also produced by Jesse Harris), celebrating their longtime association, featuring members from James Taylor’s original band.

Amanda Brecker's talent was noticeable at a very young age. At age five, she easily invented melodies, harmonies and lyrics of her own while singing and playing the piano, and displayed a natural inclination for songwriting. Amanda is the daughter of multi-GRAMMY Award winners, Brazilian pianist/composer Eliane Elias and trumpeter, Randy Brecker. Her late uncle is the legendary saxophonist, Michael Brecker. At the early age of seven, Amanda sang on Eliane Elias’ album “Fantasia”, interpreting Milton Nascimento’s ‘Ponta de Areia’, a performance that brought the composer to tears. Following the recording, Amanda performed live with Milton Nascimento in Paris in front of an audience of 3,000 people at the age of nine. This event was one of many experiences that sparked Amanda's interest to pursue a career in music, which eventually led her to perform in Europe, Japan, Brazil and the US. In tandem to her musical pursuits, Amanda has spent the past few years developing a successful career in New York Real Estate and now returns to the stage with her seven piece Brazilian band and her long time collaborator, Jesse Harris.
