Williamâs Birthday Bash
The Broadway at Birdland concert series is pleased to announce that 2012 BroadwayWorld Best Male Vocalist winner William Blake will be performing on the historic stage on Monday, July 22nd at 7pm. Direct from a sold-out engagement at Joe's Pub with Echoes of Etta: A Tribute to Etta James, William returns to the Birdland stage for the sixth time.

This special July evening, in celebration of Blake’s birthday, will include songs by some of Blake’s favorite musical artists, including Damien Rice, Dori Caymmi, Prince, Michael Jackson, Nikka Costa and more. Joining him on stage for the festivities will be musical director/arranger Michael Thomas Murray (Forever Dusty) on keys, Danny Young (American Idiot national tour, TV’s “Smash”) on percussion, Randy Napoleon (Michael Bublé, Freddy Cole) on guitar, Mike Preen (touring with Flashdance the Musical) on bass, and a surprise guest vocalist.

William recently performed the hit show (along with co-creator Mr. Murray) Echoes of Etta at Birdland Jazz Club (where the show originated), Joe’s Pub (where it received a Time Out New York Critics’ Pick) and the prestigious Café Carlyle. The show was also nominated for Best Tribute at the 2012 BroadwayWorld Cabaret Awards and made several Top Ten Best Show lists in 2012.

William is a Texas native and has been performing professionally since the age of 19. In 2004, William auditioned for “American Idol” in its fourth season and went on to compete in Hollywood. Since moving to NYC from Dallas in 2007, William has performed at some of NYC’s top music venues including Carnegie Hall in Standard Time with Michael Feinstein, Town Hall for The Best of Jim Caruso’s Cast Party, and Rose Hall at Lincoln Center. He also recorded a live album entitled Live From New York City, which is available on iTunes.

This July engagement is dedicated in loving memory to wife, mother and friend, Stacie Polashek.
