Taylor Made Jazz Presents Melissa Kate

Originally a theatrical artist, Melissa’s music career has seen her featured with big bands, jazz, hip-hop, R&B, blues and funk bands throughout New York State and around the world
While Melissa lived in New York City she studied jazz and swing from old-time legends and their progenies; Barry Harris, Arvell Shaw, and Joey "G-Clef" Cavaseno. She performed at many of NYC’s best-loved swing clubs, including Windows on the World, the Pops is Tops! concert at Louis Armstrong’s house in Queens, and for the American Lindy Hop Championships of 2001. Melissa returned to Buffalo, NY where she began working internationally with Taylor Made Jazz, touring the world for the Department of Defense’s Armed Forces Entertainment . She has performed in Italy, Spain, Hawaii, Guam, Kwajalein Portugal, Egypt and Turkey for our wonderful armed service men and women. Melissa is a master of entertainment. She has appeared on Time Warner Buffalo, WIVB News 4, CBS and the Apollo Public Access shows in Buffalo, NY. Melissa is the lead vocalist for an 18 piece band—the George Scott Big Band from the historic Colored Musicians Club of Buffalo, NY. In 2009 and 2010 she performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra at Kleinhans Music Hall for the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame’s CONCERT FROM THE HEART.
